Moses Brown Quakers Dominate Rhode Island Interscholastic Swimming Championships

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Moses Brown School Quakers put on a dominant performance at the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Swimming Championships, sweeping both the boys and girls Division II titles and setting three new state records in the process.

The Quakers' boys team, led by senior Ryan Callahan, won their third consecutive Division II championship with a commanding performance across all events. Callahan, who has committed to swim at MIT, set a new state record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:47.23, breaking the previous record that had stood for 12 years.

"Ryan is one of the best swimmers we've ever had at Moses Brown," said head coach Sarah Whitfield. "But what makes this team special is the depth. We had strong performances from top to bottom, and that's what wins championships."

The girls team was equally impressive, capturing their second consecutive Division II title behind the performances of junior Emma Rodriguez and sophomore Claire Patel. Rodriguez set a new state record in the 100-yard butterfly.

Moses Brown's swimming program has become one of the premier programs in Rhode Island under Whitfield's leadership. The school's commitment to athletic excellence, combined with its strong academic program, has attracted talented student-athletes from across the state.

The championships were held at the University of Rhode Island's Tootell Aquatic Center in Kingston. Several college coaches were in attendance to watch the state's top swimmers, with multiple Quakers expected to receive Division I scholarship offers.
